Companies secure contracts by implementing safety procedures

Supporting a smart and stable workforce, North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) increases understanding and awareness while reducing injury and illness in the workplace; from May 2-8, 2010 the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), Medicine Hat and Brooks South Eastern Alberta Chapter encourages employers, employees and the general public to attend presentations and keynote speakers throughout the community.

“Safety is becoming increasingly important for businesses. Not just for the business’ own employees, but in securing contracts with other companies. Large organizations especially, often the ones that have multiple locations, will only do dealings with other companies that match their corporate culture for safety. If you do not have a good safety program in place, you could be missing out on business,” said Tracy Heebner, Business Development Officer for the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta.

Among the presentations Luncheon Keynote Speaker: Dan Comiskey ,“Dan the Safety Man”,  as well as former CFL player will address topics such as: understanding what it takes to be a leader, how to lead effectively, knowledge about brain function and how it effects work habit and a renewed commitment to safety.  Comiskey’s presentation will take place Friday May 7, 12:00 pm at the Medicine Hat Lodge, cost is $15.00 to attend.
