Federal ecoENERGY Grants End
HAT Smart and Provincial Rebates Still Available
Medicine Hat -The federal government announced on March 31, 2010 that the grant portion of the federal ecoENERGY Retrofit Program has ended, effective immediately.
The City of Medicine Hat and the provincial rebate programs have not been affected as a result of the federal government's changes. Both the City and the provincial government remain committed to helping Albertans make energy efficient choices in their homes.
Any Canadian who has already entered the federal ecoENERGY Retrofit Program by completing a pre-retrofit evaluation, or has booked an appointment with a certified service organization for a pre-retrofit evaluation on or before March 31, 2010, will remain eligible for federal grant money. Post-retrofit evaluations must be completed by March 31, 2011.
Anyone who would like to enter the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program and have a home energy evaluation completed is encouraged to do so despite the absence of federal grants. The City of Medicine and the government of Alberta are continuing all of their residential rebate programs.
