June 02, 2010, Medicine Hat Alberta… Inducted into the Canadian War Museum, Meggitt Training Systems’ Vindicator ll UAV will be preserved in history for its national significance on Thursday, June 3, 2010 in Ottawa, Ontario.  Remotely piloted, the Vindicator ll was designed to simulate the threat of missiles and aircraft for air defense systems; able to perform various attack and surveillance patterns, the versatility of the system also allows the target to be operated with an integrated Helicopter Radar Signature Simulator (HRSS), replicating an all-encompassing helicopter threat. Exceedingly versatile, the Vindicator ll was used to perform various attack and surveillance patterns based on training needs, providing a multi-threat configuration. One of many unmanned vehicle systems created by Meggitt Training Systems Canada, the Vindicator ll’s entrance into the museum showcases that the UVS cluster in Southeast Alberta is important, and actively supported and promoted by all levels of government.

“We’re very pleased that the War Museum has accepted this UAV into its collection,” said Spencer Fraser, President and General Manager of Meggitt Training Systems Canada. “We’re proud to have developed this technology in Western Canada, and that an example will remain at the War Museum for Canadians to visit and for researchers in the future”.

Able to operate in extreme environmental circumstances this high performance, flight control system provides identical traits used successfully with the national forces, US navy and other international clients.  The Vindicator ll, modular in design, is both manually and automatically guided ensuring that the automatic pilot usage provides backup, preventing incorrect control inputs. An example of research and development this UAV is one of the many ways in which innovation is happening in the region; the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta congratulates Meggitt Training Systems for its achievement in technology and this national honor.
