President of Crosswind Consulting Joins EDA

June 02, 2010, Medicine Hat Alberta… Over the next two months, Don Matthews, president of Crosswind Consulting and founder and immediate past president of CCUVS, will be assisting the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta in developing the regional UVS industry. Primarily focused on establishing opportunities and business cases, Matthews will be working alongside small businesses to grow their capability in UVS related maintenance, repair, overhaul, production, logistical and administrative support.  With new technologies immerging and innovation tied to industry, this grassroots initiative will also assist companies to grow their ability to participate in UVS research and development.

“We are taking one step at a time to assist small and medium sized businesses in supporting local UVS companies to be sustainable, expand and attract new investment,” said Caroline Grover, executive director for the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta.  “We are strategically aligning ourselves with Alberta’s provincial initiative to diversify and increase our region’s capacity for growth in this important sector.”

Matthews is the President of Crosswind Consulting.  He is the founder and immediate past President of the Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicles Systems - the mission of which is to facilitate and accelerate the growth of the Canadian UVS sector. He was also the start up President of Aviation Alberta, an owner and managing partner of a multi-media training solutions company in Edmonton, a consultant to large and small aviation and aerospace companies across Canada and is currently leading initiatives to bring innovative unmanned solutions to the marketplace. During a decorated military career Colonel Matthews served his nation as a combat fighter pilot in the Gulf War, as the leader of the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment in Cold Lake and as a peacekeeper in Haiti.
