Industry Special Reduces Solar Installation Costs

Published on June 18, 2010

June 18, 2010, Medicine Hat, Alberta... Current events have increased awareness of green technologies, in correspondence Terralta Inc is offering customers an “Industry Special” which can be utilized along with the 50% Hat Smart rebate from the City of Medicine Hat. One of the few municipalities offering solar rebates, these incentives reduce installation costs and energy consumption, increasing return on investment and property value.  The sunniest location in Canada with approximately 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, Terralta carries a variety of solar electric and solar heating applications that can easily convert 60-70% of sunlight into usable heat.

“With provincial and municipal incentives, we also focus on grant assistance for our customers, we are well versed in the Federal Eco Energy grants, the Saskatchewan Resource Council Grants and the Hat Smart Grants from the City of Medicine Hat,” said Marcus Campbell, sales and marketing  for Terralta Inc. “The city will swap out your meter at no cost, we will commission the system and send in the documents for funding as well as apply for the development permit on your behalf and handle electrical connections.”

Normally priced at approximately $10-11,000, a 1.3 KW Solar PV system (6x 220 watt panels) with Terralta’s promotion and the Hat Smart incentive will cost Medicine Hat Residence about $4500 after taxes. This system includes 6- 220 watt solar panels, 6- micro inverters with a monitoring unit, a custom built roof mounting package, labour costs and the completion of all documents regarding the municipal grant.

“With a system this size, depending on exposure, customers can anticipate 2000 to 3000 KW hours per year,” said Campbell. “To qualify for these incentives, buyers are asked to attend the Hat Smart Seminar or view it online; our overall directive is to educate. The more comfortable people are and the better they understand these renewable systems the sooner we can become less dependent on fossil fuels.”
