Canadian Badlands – One-stop services for people interested in starting or expanding a tourism business are now available in the Canadian Badlands region.
Tourism Futures is a new initiative that provides professional support and business training, as well as access to tourism related resources, industry initiatives and networking opportunities.
The initiative is funded by Canadian Badlands Ltd. (CBL) and operated by Community Futures Entre-Corp Business Development in partnership with the Medicine Hat College.
“Entrepreneurs are provided with a targeted array of business resources, training, hands-on assistance, information sharing, access to networks, and coaching and mentoring designed to accelerate the successful development of tourism in the region,” says Elaine Roden, Tourism Futures manager.
In addition to face-to-face, customized assistance, tourism entrepreneurs can access a new website www.tourismfutures.ca and connect to resources, funding opportunities, and a comprehensive listing of existing tourism businesses in the Canadian Badlands region.
“There are tremendous economic development opportunities for tourism businesses as the Canadian Badlands continues on the path to becoming the next iconic tourist destination in Canada,” says Manuelle Prunier, CBL executive director. “Providing services and support to encourage and help people who want to start or ‘grow’ tourism businesses is an important step in achieving that vision.”
CBL received funding for Tourism Futures from the Rural Alberta’s Development Fund with an in-kind contribution from the City of Medicine Hat
