UVS marketing video exposes industry potential to international audiences

Alberta. Wide Open Spaces, Unending UVS Possibilities is the first province-wide initiative to collaboratively market the areas unmanned vehicle systems industry to an international audience; footage was requested from more than 70 companies, military agencies and academia.

Showcasing the large and highly successful UVS sector, footage demonstrates research and technology commercialization, a highly skilled workforce in key areas including: avionics, navigation systems, systems integration and wireless communications and markets the investment potential in clear and concise factual information. The video is available for all to use in their marketing efforts and by the provincial government on our behalf- internationally.

“Unmanned Vehicle Systems are a rapidly emerging subsector with huge growing and unprecedented potential in a multi-billion dollar global market,” said Orest Warcola, Director, US Trade & Investment, Alberta International & Intergovernmental Relations. “The Alberta UVS DVD has, and continues to receive global distribution.  It is utilized as not only an effective marketing tool for Alberta’s UVS industry, but as an important economic development and investment attraction tool that provides targeted information and effective messaging to influence companies and businesses to locate in the region.”   

Interviews with representatives from Meggitt Training Systems Canada, MDA, Defence Research and Development Canada- Suffield and the Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicle Systems help to clearly define the advantages of Alberta in areas including: proximity to experimental testing grounds, restricted airspace and the readily available technical workforce-required for a successful end result. The final product is available in four languages:  English, French, Spanish and Japanese and also includes a database of companies in and associated to industry.

“The EDA was pleased to play a coordinating role in creating this video and anticipate having a good response from the multi-lingual versions available on our site and our co-collaborators,” said Caroline Grover, Executive Director for the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta.

Produced by Stream Media in Medicine Hat, the video was a result of a partnership between the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta, the Province of Alberta’s Ministry of Finance and Enterprise, Meggitt Training Systems Canada and the Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicle Systems.
