Upcoming Event: Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) Innovation Information Forum

The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises, Western Region is organizing an Innovation Information Forum in Edmonton on June 21st and one in Saskatoon on June 24th in anticipation of posting early summer of the next call for proposals under the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP).

This information  is being sent to you to invite you to these events and for you to pass on the information to any of your contacts who would be interested in attending. Their interest could be on behalf of an innovative company considering submitting a proposal or on behalf of an  organization who assists innovative companies succeed.

The Innovation Information Forum

Are you a small or medium size business? Do you have a ready-to-be-commercialized product or service that you are interested in selling to the federal government? If yes, the Office of Small & Medium Enterprises (OSME) invites you to attend The Innovation Information Forum being hosted on Tuesday June 21, 2011 in Edmonton, AB and on Friday June 24, 2011 in Saskatoon, SK.

The Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) is a new, $40 million procurement program, launched as part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to promote Canada’s economic growth. The Forum will provide the opportunity for you to showcase your innovative goods and service to federal departments, and allow federal departments to share information on their operations, priorities, and any technology needs.

The CICP targets innovation in four priority areas:

  • Environment
  • Health
  • Enabling Technologies
  • Safety & Security

You can participate in a number of different ways:

  1. Attend --learn about the program, hear about the experience of DataGardens, an Edmonton company successful in the first call for proposals and about current and future technology needs of several federal departments and agencies
  2. Exhibit—present your new technology
  3. Choose a break-out session such as “Selling to the Government”, “CICP: How to submit & Lessons Learned” and “Security Clearances for federal procurement”
  4. Register on-site for one-on-ones with representatives of federal agencies and departments
