The Economic Development Alliance (EDA) of Southeast Alberta has a mandate to increase wealth, promote investment, and work with businesses to access and expand new markets throughout the region it serves. The EDA’s member municipalities are the City of Medicine Hat, Towns of Redcliff and Bow Island, and Counties Cypress and Forty Mile. Through the EDA, these municipalities strive to achieve sustainable economic growth and maximize value of resources in the region. The region’s key sectors include energy, agriculture, technology and advanced manufacturing. The EDA makes great efforts to encourage diversification of local business; to help develop traditional and emerging sectors.
The EDA, recognizing the importance of the agriculture sector to Southeast Alberta, is hosting its second annual Training the Next Generation event. This event provides a vital opportunity for local producers and agriculture-related professionals to get informed on what to consider when transferring management and ownership of the family business. This years’ theme will be “Who gets the farm and when? Leaving a lasting legacy”. The event will feature Elaine Froese, a certified family farm business coach and succession expert, who carries over twenty years experience working with families in business. Because we feel this experience is highly valuable to our agriculture community, we wish to provide registration at the lowest possible cost, and to do that sponsorship dollars are required.
To that end, the EDA will engage the services of a qualified consultant to help raise funds to ensure this event is not cost prohibitive for local producers. Specifically, the consultant will go to organizations and businesses involved in the agriculture and related sectors, requesting sponsorship dollars. This consultant will also ensure that from those that submit funds, their publicity needs are met and they feel value for supporting this event.
