Published on September 11, 2009

The Economic Development Alliance of Southeast AB is pleased to congratulate two local businesses.

The Canadian Badlands will receive $5 million dollars from the Rural Alberta Development Fund which will go towards the tourism infrastructure development programming through the “The Canadian Badlands Tourism Development Centre”. The $5 million dollars has been directed into 17 programs covering grant writing, a community assessment tool kit, workforce development and customer quality initiatives education. Also included are small to medium businesses and artists, tourism master planning, area development plans and an update of a study done in 1990 called the Red Deer River Valley Scenic Route.

In addition, Medalta Potteries received funding for two hefty restoration projects totaling more than $3 million from Western Economic Diversification’s Community Adjustment Fund.  The National Historic Site has been the scene of transition for the last two years and the Friends of Medalta Society happily welcomed the commitment.
